Somero Team Uganda

The social worker Geofrey Nsubuga is in charge of the coordination of the Ugandan team since the formation of Somero. Geofrey is very committed to his work and displays exceptional perceptive skills in dealing with children and teenagers. Since 2006 he works in different national and international child and youth projects - among them the Program against Child Labor of the International Labor Organization (ILO-IPEC) as well as several projects of the NGOs Uganda Youth Development Link and Child to Child Uganda. Since December 2009 Geofrey is a part-time employee at Somero.

Geofrey NsubugaAn independent advisory board consisting of several volunteers supports Geofrey’s work to further develop Somero in Uganda. It also plays an active role in the selection of the students. The advisory board consists of a psychologist working for a local NGO, a local politician, a nun and a school principal.

In addition, two female university volunteers contribute to the care of the students. This serves to guarantee that the students also have access to a female mentor, who visits on a regular basis and can advise them on a number of issues.
