Principles

  1. We support young people, mainly girls and young women, in Uganda who have little or no access to education.
  2. The basis of our support is the individual need of the stipendiary.
  3. The decision on whether to support a person is neither directly nor indirectly based on health status, most significantly HIV/AIDS.
  4. We provide stipendiaries with everything needed to acquire the level of education necessary to lead a self-determined and, self-sufficient life.
  5. Voluntariness, respect for each other, and equality regardless of gender, age, health status, disability and nationality are the core values of all members and stipendiaries of Somero.
  6. All relevant decisions are taken in very close cooperation and at eye-level between the German and the Ugandan team.
  7. We believe that the Somero team in Uganda knows best how the goals of Somero can be successfully realized in Uganda.
  8. The team in Germany provides financial means and technical support to the team in Uganda and ensures the accountability of all expenses.
  9. We make sure that all financial means are used in a proper, efficient and transparent way and seek to keep administrative costs as low as possible.
